Kim Marie Tremblay: Heirloom Christening Gowns

This heirloom christening gown was made from the mother's wedding dress. She was expecting a boy, but two bonnets were made - one with blue ribbon, the other with pink - in case the mother later had a girl (which she did!). Original buttons and beading were used in the construction of the gown and applique beading can also be seen on the girl's bonnet. Since both wedding dresses and christening gowns are usually white, this is an excellent way in which to re-purpose a wedding dress in a way that is especially poetic and reinforces the idea of the family unit.
